The challenge
Take a 1997 game built from coarse, low-resolution pixel sprites — a few hundred pixels of hand-drawn art per character — and rebuild it as cinematic film-grade imagery. Every character had to be reconstructed from tiny pixelated source artwork into fully realized 3D designs with real fur, fabric and lighting, while staying true enough that anyone who played it recognizes them instantly.
CAPTAIN CLAW
Four rival commanders standing against the crew: a grey wolf general in a violet frock coat with rapier drawn, a red-caped sword cat with rope and blade at her hip, a crowned amphibian brute with a tentacle crest, and a purple-coated pirate dog captain under a plumed tricorne. Each developed as a full four-view turnaround with feature-quality fur, fabric and leather detail, unified by a royal purple, crimson and brass gold palette.
